Spray Type Desuperheater
- Are an inline device for reducing the temperature of superheated steam down to near saturation temperatures.
- A higher pressure cooling water is sprayed into the spool piece to generate a curtain of fine droplets. The interaction of the steam with the droplets causes evaporation which generates the cooling.
- Temperature reductions down to within 3 degC of saturation possible.
- Low pressure drops possible, 0.1 to 1 bar, dependent on required operating duty
